Colliding
Lyrics by Emily Tyndall
Music by Andrew Braithwaite

Lone candle in a bedroom window
Light flickers. An evening chill sets in.
One heartbeat breaking the stillness,
clenching covers and hiding from the wind.
CHORUS:
Two souls thrown into love's storm.
It grows. One must be reborn.
He's fighting to keep the one he loves
from colliding into eternal blood.
Two hands clasp, in the shadows,
racing to a secret rendezvous.
Sweet laughter trickles like water.
New love, the fountain of youth.
CHORUS:
Two souls thrown into love's storm.
It grows. One must be reborn.
He's fighting to keep the one he loves
from colliding into eternal blood.
BRIDGE:
Dear fragile, sweet girl.
Dear fragile, sweet girl.
Dear fragile, sweet girl.
CHORUS:
He's fighting to keep the one he loves
from colliding into eternal blood.
BRIDGE 2:
Does love protect them from the truth
or create false memories of two?
Does love protect them from the truth
or create false memories of two?
Lone candle in a bedroom window
Light flickers. An evening chill sets in.

Erin Wilson! Choreographer extraordinaire!
Kristopherson!
Cheers to Kristopherson who did hair on the project!! He did awesome! What a talented guy! Here is are some shots from my iPhone of him thinning my hair.
These next shots show how he did my hair for the scene where I was singing from the window. (Makeup by Paula J. Dahlberg)
Of course the whole project would not have been the same without him! Thank you Kristopherson!! Here are some more photos of your work! (Photos courtesy of Cindy Wong).

KBER FM 101.1
Our youtube hits are steadily increasing! 6,435! Thank you everyone who has volunteered to make this a success! Some of you may have heard our interview on KBER FM 101.1 last week. It was a lot of fun, even though we had a near casualty with one of our photographers Erika. (Well near casualty is an exaggeration, but we'll just say she took one for the team) Thank you for Erika and Bill for being at our interviews and recording sessions. Mick was our interviewer on KBER. We told him a little about the background to the song, then he played it for everyone. Someone in the studio wrote "Better than Guns n Roses" on a piece of paper and handed it to Mick. We thought that was pretty funny. Hopefully that's more of a compliment to us, than a criticism of them. :)

Cool photos from the shoot...and FREE DVDs for spreading the word!! :)
Last week was like a whirlwind! Did I already say that? :) It was a ton of fun and we met a lot of great people out at the Twilight Premier parties!
We've had a ton of success, interviews on radio and television and 4800 hits on YouTube! Wow! It's only been 6 days! That's great! Keep spreading the word people! We want to get a million hits on YouTube! If everybody told everybody they knew--it could happen!
Here's a great plan! If you email 25 people about our music video, (and copy me: emily@petaltheband.com), I'll send you a free DVD of our music video. So for every 25 people you email, I'll send you a free DVD! How cool is that??? Let's get those emails going! Woot woot!

Editing room...Recording session...
Today I watched as Nyk Fry edited our music video...let me just say WOW! He is REALLY good!! I am so excited for everybody to see this video. It is going to be SO cool!
So, today has been a very exciting day. I got to see amazing footage from the shoot, we made plans for the release of our song Colliding with its music video next week, and we even went to the recording studio.
So, next week we plan to release the song and music video at 10:00 AM Thursday (-7 GMT). Look forward to that! We plan to make the song and music video available on iTunes. You will also be able to see the music video here on our web-site as well as on YouTube. Watch for it!
We will be attending the Twilight Premiere Party at The District in South Jordan. If you want to buy a copy of the music video that day you can! We are excited to see all the Twilight fans out there!!
So I mentioned we went to the recording studio, well we layed down new bass and drum tracks. Check it out--our bass player was Jonni Lightfoot from the band, Air Supply! Wow! He was A-mazing!! He totally jammed out in the booth and was just creating killer sounds! You will have to hear it. The song has improved immensely since we first recorded it in April. It was a great session at the studio and we all had a blast!
Can't wait to deliver this amazing song to all of you out there! :)

Recording session
Andrew, Nyk and myself went to Soularium today to re-record the piano tracks. Andrew is an amazing pianist! Mr. Fingers, Nyk calls him. We have a NEW intro to our song! I am totally excited about it! It is moody, haunting and full of feeling. We had a great time with Jared and Dan at Soularium. Thank you guys! You were terrific!

Today's shoot
We did a lot of shooting today! There were some incredible moments! I can't WAIT for you all to see the dress that Elisa Dawn created! It is stunning! Then there is Peter...he is such an incredible dancer and he has such a striking look. I can't wait for you to see him too!
We shot some scenes of dancing, dreaming on a bed, and some lip-syncing today...and the wardrobe really came together as well!
We will be shooting again on Friday and then wrapping on Saturday at a high school. So...don't go away, we'll have footage for you soon! We plan to release the video and song next weekend!
Special thanks to Jarrod Clarke for encouraging Nyk to use his free time on creative projects like this! Nyk is such a creative genius! It would be a shame not to not encourage him. Nyk was born for this stuff! So thank you Jarrod for your support!

Hello from the Composer/Pianist!
Wow. Thank you Emily for organizing the filming shoot! My piano part of the video was done last week, so I got to sit back and enjoy the magic last night. Emily, Peter, Nyk, and all of the bigillion people there did such an awesome job! Thank you everyone for making it come together, and thank you Channel 2 News for coming out!!
This week will be very busy with not just the filming, but we will also be re-recording and remixing the song we wrote. Don't worry though, the song won't change that much from what we already have. We'll have an AWESOME new eerie introduction, and the instrumentation throughout the song will be a little clearer, thanks to Nyk's help. See you all Wednesday for part 2 of the shoot!

You are big time now, you Broadway choreographer! (Hey, actually, you really are big time! I’m not kidding!)
- Nyk Fry created magic by filming unique shots between the ironwork and also the beautiful overhead shot on the round floor design! Magnifique!
- Love Interest [aka Peter] looked SO PERFECT!!! I can’t wait for everyone to see him as this Love Interest! Kristopherson! Way to go on Peter’s hair! And Paula on his makeup! Yes...he looked great! I believe that Twilight fans will LOVE Peter!! He's going to need a fan site!
- Shad, Xavier, Steve – worked the fog, dry ice, and lights! Thanks for bringing your lights Steve! You are TOO cool!
- Kristin Yee saved Erin from being my personal assistant! Kristin you are the best!
- Elisa for bringing the dress TO the set and working non-stop! You go girl!! You were rockin’ down there with your sewing machine! Can’t wait to see the final product on Wednesday!
- Erica, Bill, Cindy for took tons of production stills! You are all really sweet and I would LOVE for you to send me some photos so I can post them on our blog! The sooner you send them the sooner I’ll post! Thanks for being there!

- Jen Stagg doing the KUTV story and what a great story it is! Check it out online!! Front page and top story: http://www.kutv.com/default.aspx?articleID=67908
- Rachel Denbeste drove around and picked up some great dresses for the shoot! I love you Rachel-roni!
- D.I.!!! Thank you for the AWESOMEST gown! $50 baby! I found that at 2:45 this afternoon--just hours before the shoot! Thank goodness! And it is the most gorgeous princess gown I've seen! Wooo! Yes!!
- Shala, Matt, Greg and Phyllis were extremely accomodating in their home! Thank you friends!
- Boyfriend for support and green button for fog! :)
- And lastly, I'm now officially a foot actress. Ask my feet--they are really good!
More coming soon everyone! I want to post some photos and footage. So crew--please send me what you've got!!

The making of a music video!
Hey everybody! We are Petal, the band! We are comprised of vocalist Emily Tyndall and pianist Andrew Braithwaite. We have been writing songs together for almost a year now since we met serendipitously on myspace.
We are in the process of creating a music video for our song "Colliding". This music video is locally made and home grown right from our own back yards...almost. Well ok, with the help of some amazing, talented and generous friends, this music video is coming to fruition. Our director of photography, Nyk Fry, is fantastic! We all are excited because our first shoot date is Monday, November 10!
Here's the background on "Colliding". We started writing this song last December. I had just finished reading the book Twilight and couldn't stop thinking about it. Honestly, I was going through a lonely spell at that time, so the song started out very lonely sounding. After one verse was created, the sound of the song just kept reminding me of the book. Then I remembered that Twilight was going to be made into a feature film! So I suggested that we create a song that we could submit to the feature film for consideration in the soundtrack. Here we are, almost a year later and we have created the song, submitted it to the feature film, and ... well, we never heard back. We loved the song and so we decided to release it with a bang -- fully fledged with a music video and all!
Hope you enjoy the journey as we create a music video! It has been a blast for us!
